  Expert and pleasant care, from sensible, friendly people who want to help patients make competent choices about everything from money to mouthwash.
  
  Dr. Anderson is jolly and down-to-earth. She printed out what it will cost to fix my old fillings, let me know that this was not super-urgent, and assessed the usefulness of buying more insurance (probably not worth it, in my case). It was just straightforward information and recommendations, no pressure or sales pitch. She also has a droll sense of humor.
  
  Karin the dental hygienist has great technique -- I have a tiny mouth crammed with crooked teeth, and lots of hygienists have a really hard time with it. I was especially impressed with her diagnosis of my flossing problem. In the past, I've had a hygienist actually insist I was lying.. But because Karin believed me, she was able to find the problem and fix it:
  
  Karin: I can really tell by looking at your gums that you don't floss!
  Me: That's exactly what dental hygienists told me back when I literally flossed every. single. day. Which is why I no longer floss at all.
  Karin: What brand of dental floss did you use? Wait, I can tell you: Glide.
  Me: Why yes!
  
  Result: she recommended products for my particular teeth, and I will be giving flossing another go. She also ran through the different advantages of various types of mouthwash, and hit on one that I will actually be motivated to use.
  
  Also, Rocktown's amenities are pretty great. HGTV made time in the dental chair way easier to tolerate. I've never watched TV at the dentist before, and usually hate TV in public places. But watching old houses get remodeled was the perfect distraction. Oh, and the cinnamon fluoride does not taste vile!
